Companies from across the UK and
further afield could soon find their staff doing death
slides down Black Mountain ravines, going behind the scenes
at the Welsh National Opera, ballooning over Swansea Bay
or playing golf on a potential Ryder Cup course - thanks
to the Visit Wales' new incentive planner.
The brochure, which was launched
at EIBTM in Geneva, gives organisations a host of ideas
on how to reward their staff - showcasing the range of
activities and venues on offer in Wales.
Beth Harris, Senior Business Travel
Executive at the WTB's Business Travel Unit, said: "Our
mix of the rugged outdoors combined with fantastic five
star venues means that we can offer a really diverse range
of incentive travel opportunities.
"We work together with companies
to design tailor-made breaks that meet the specific business
objectives of the organisation. We can brainstorm ideas,
suggest itineraries and put together a package that helps
companies to reward their staff or build team spirit.
The new incentive planner gives a flavour of what Wales
can offer."
The business travel market is important
to the Welsh economy and is worth £100 million.
Visit Wales is producing 6,000 brochures to
be distributed mainly in the UK but also in France, German
and the USA.
Beth Harris added: "Wales
is no stranger to hosting high profile and prestigious
events. Recently we staged the FA Cup - and we are looking
forward to hosting another Network Q Rally, The Wales
Open Golf Tournament and the Speedway Grand Prix this
summer. We have the experience, facilities and infrastructure
to give companies the highest standard of service - and
an event to remember."
For the first time, a section in the incentive planner
has been dedicated to golf. Beth Harris said: "Wales
has more than 170 golf courses and we are bidding to host
the Ryder Cup in 2009 at the Celtic Manor Resort. We felt
that the brochure needed to reflect the growing importance
of golf to the incentive market and to emphasise the first
class facilities that we have to offer."
